Consumer protection
According to surveys carried out at national level, the toxic substances present on fabrics, leather goods and footwear are the cause of 8% of dermatological diseases detected in healthcare facilities and, in all cases, attributable to imported clothes. Furthermore, an undetectable number of diseases is managed by self-medical methods and therefore escapes statistics. Finally, it is important to note that traces of far more dangerous substances are often found in garments analyzed in equipped laboratories: that is carcinogenic or mutagenic substances.
Fabrics and footwear can be harmful if not produced properly. A situation that mainly affects the weakest consumers: the elderly and the children.
